Our Immaculata candle bears the markings, feel, and beauty of the honeycomb. The honeycomb is one of nature’s most elegant examples of beauty joined to order and efficiency. Made of repeating, adjoining hexagonal cells, the inner workings of a hive become an exquisite display of harmony and service. Each intentionally formed hexagon becomes the nursery of an infant bee, nourished and cared for until it grows strong enough to fly forth and begin its dedicated and loyal work for its mother and queen.
Within this sanctuary of the hive, the queen remains the hidden center of life. The hive gathers around her, and fruitfulness flows outward from her presence: outwardly simple, inwardly intricate, ordered, and full of sweetness.
This is why our honeycomb candle, The Immaculata, bears a title in honor of our Queen, the Immaculate Blessed Mother.
As we light our Immaculata candles, especially as the Feast of the Queenship of Our Lady approaches on May 31st, we gather around the warmth and brightness of a simple candle created for royalty—a reminder of a greater reality that transcends the joys and sufferings of our everyday lives.
This morning, after dropping my girls off at school, and before I had even left the driveway, our youngest daughter, Zelie, and her teacher came walking outside. My first thought was, Oh shoot, I forgot to pull Zelie’s hair back and Mother is coming to remind me of the rules. Yet they walked right past me and over to the flower gardens out front. I took a moment to reflect, realizing once again why the Dominican Sisters at Holy Name Academy all bear the title “Mother.”

Zelie loves her teacher, Mother Mary Scholastica, not only because she will catch a toad for class, take the girls to cut flowers, or teach them how to read, but because she genuinely cares for and watches over them. In her corrections, Mother encourages, and in her actions she reflects something sacred within her that is set apart from the rest of the world. She teaches Zelie and urges her on toward greater things each day.
In a world that often feels hurried, disordered, and detached from what is eternal, the quiet witness of a hive, a candle, or even the gentle care of a mother reminds us that true beauty is always rooted in order, sacrifice, and love. The honeycomb gathers around its queen, children gather around their mothers, and we ourselves are called to gather around Our Blessed Mother, who always leads us to her Son.
May The Immaculata serve not merely as a candle to brighten our homes, but as a small reminder of the sweetness, warmth, and sacred order found in a life centered upon Heaven. And as its flame burns quietly before us, may it draw our hearts toward our Virgin Queen, beneath whose mantle we find both tenderness and strength amidst the joys and sufferings of this life.

Join our family in praying for the Holy Catholic Church, beseeching our Queen to intercede for us from now until May 31st.
Almighty and Eternal God, Who willest that all men should come to salvation and to the knowledge of the truth, Thou Whose Spirit sanctifieth and governeth the whole Body of the Church, we humbly beseech Thee, through the intercession of Our Lady, Mediatrix of All Graces, to provide for the needs of Thy Church by pouring out upon Thy elect the abundance of Thy grace.
May there shine forth in them the steadfastness of faith, the purity of charity, and the sincerity of peace.
May their speech and their preaching rest not upon the persuasive language of human wisdom, but upon the Spirit and the power of God.
Tireless in external labour, may they preserve within themselves the fervour of the Spirit. May they hate pride; may they love humility and truth, never betraying it under the pressure of praise or fear.
May they not make darkness light, nor light darkness. May they not call good evil, nor evil good.
May they be at the service of the wise as of the foolish, of the learned as of the ignorant, that they may gather the fruit of the progress of all.
Multiply upon them Thy blessing and Thy grace, so that, filled with godliness by Thy gift, they may at all times fruitfully implore Thy divine mercy.
Through Our Lord Jesus Christ Thy Son, Who liveth and reigneth with Thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, one God, world without end. Amen.
